Abstract:For the purpose of providing a basis for high-yielding wheat cultivation and cultivar breeding in regions of rice-wheat rotation along Huaihe River, six high-yielding wheat cultivars in the wheat area along Huaihuai were selected as test materials under field conditions, grain filling process was fitted with cubic polynomial equation, and correlation analysis was conducted to investigate relationships between wheat grain filling parameters and grain weight so as to study variations in yield and their constitutive factors among different wheat cultivars. Out of the six cultivars, Annongda 1216 showed the highest yield of 8 598.77 kg·hm-² and Yannong 19 offered the lowest yield of 6 031.07 kg·hm-²; the grain weight of Annongda 1216 was the highest during the seed filling process, reaching 51.4 g at maturity, compared with 47.78 g for Zhengmai 9023; the filling rate of each cultivar differed significantly. Grain filling process of different wheat cultivars showed "S" type variation, and filling parameters were different according to the cultivars, but "R²" reached above 0.99. Correlation analysis showed that 1 000- grain weight was significantly correlated with the maximum theoretical grain weight (W), and it was positively with the average filling rate (V), the maximum filling rate (Vmax), the average filling rate within effective filling duration (Vs), the increase in grain weight over the effective filling period (Ws) and time to emerge of the maximum filling rate (T)(P>0.05). It is clear that the selected wheat cultivars with higher values of perfusion parameters such as W, V, Vmax, Vs, Ws and T are beneficial for increasing wheat 1 000-grain weight and yield in this region. Additionally, three factors, wheat cultivars, efficient cultivation practices, management practices and coordinated productivity components, should also be considered to
