Abstract:To study the quality grading standards of Scutellaria baicalensis seeds, seven indexes of seed quality of Scutellaria baicalensis from 20 different areas and different years were tested, including purity, 1000-grain weight, morphological size, water content, plumpness, viability and germination rate. The data were analyzed by principal component analysis and K-means cluster analysis, which served as a reference for grading. As results, the range of indicators of Scutellaria seeds at levels of I, II and III was established. Among them, germination rate and seed vigor were the main classification criteria, and then cleanliness, 1000-grain weight, shape and size, moisture content and plumpness took the second place. In conclusion, the quality grading standards for Scutellaria baicalensis seeds were established as Grade I, II and III, and the quality grading standards accorded with the actual situation, which could provide references and guidance for the quality evaluation and artificial cultivation of seeds of Scutellaria baicalensis.
