Abstract:To understand the influence of the harvest maturity on the quality and smoke characteristics of flue-cured tobacco leaves of ‘K326’, the effects of different harvest maturity on economic characters, smoke quality, chemical harmony of compounds, and smoke safety were investigated in Fujian Tobacco Base, China Tobacco Anhui Industry Limited Company using flu-cured leaves of a major cultivar of tobacco ‘K326’. The results showed that harvest maturity not only affected the appearance and inner quality, but also had an effect on smoke safety. The integrated analysis of the quality and economical traits of tobacco leaves with different treatments showed that better comprehensive quality and economical traits of tobacco leaves were acquired when the upper, middle, and bottom tobacco leaves were harvested with 50, 80, and 90% yellow, respectively. The influence of the harvest maturity on smoke quality showed that a better effect of tar reduction was acquired when the upper, middle, and bottom tobacco leaves were harvested with 50, 80, and 100% yellow, respectively.
