Abstract:Effects of BA at 0, 0.2, 5, and 20 mg·L-1 on growth and glucosinolate content of pakchoi (cv. Shanghaiqing) were studied. The weight of pakchoi shoots was increasing as the increasing concentration of exogenous BA. BA at 5-20 mg·L-1 significantly increased the weight of pakchoi shoots. Compared to the control, the contents of glucoalyssin, gluconapin, glucobrassicanapin, and total glucosinolate were significantly increased when treated with 20 mg·L-1 BA. BA at 0.2 mg·L-1 also increased the contents of glucobrassicanapin and aromatic glucosinolate. However, 5-20 mg·L-1 BA treatment significantly inhibited the synthesis of neoglucobrassicin, but no effect was observed on other indole glucosinolates. Different glucosinolates responded differently to different BA concentrations in which 20 mg·L-1 BA treatment significantly increased the total glucosinolate content in pakchoi.
