Abstract:In this paper, we determined the contents of equilibrium moisture, seven conventional chemical components (including nicotine, total sugar, reducing sugar, total nitrogen, chlorine, potassium and protein) and nine conjugated glycosides (including conjugated glycosides of furfural, 2-ethyl hexanal, oxo-isophorone, 3-methyl-1- butanol, benzyl alcohol, acetophenone, 4-methoxy-2-vinylphenol, damascenone and octadecadienoic acid) in 32 flue-cured tobacco samples from Guizhou Province. These leaf samples were oven-dried at 22℃ 50%, 55%, 60%, 65% and 70% of relative humidities, respectively. Relationships between of 16 chemical components and equilibrium moisture under different relative humidity conditions were studied using simple correlation analysis and principal component regression analysis. The results showed that total sugar, reducing sugar and conjugated glycosides of furfural and 2-ethyl hexanal in flue-cured tobacco leaves significantly affect the equilibrium moisture contents in Guizhou flue-cured tobacco.
