In order to provide the scientific basis for its soilless culture, the effects of hydroponics and different stromas on growth and development of Impatiens balsamina were studied. The experiment was conducted in four different formulas: coconut husk: peat volume combinations of 1:1, 2:1 and 1:2 and hydroponics. The growth and bloom of I. balsamina were determined after three, six and nine weeks. The result showed that coconut husk: peat volume combination of 1:2 was favorable for the leaf number, flower number, leaf weight, stem weight, flower weight and plant weight of I. balsamina, whereas hydroponics was favorable for its plant height and root weight, but was not for its bloom. The growth of I. balsamina was poor at stromas with coconut husk: peat volume combinations of 1:1 and 2:1, and their blooming abilities were medium among the four formulas.
