Abstract:A method for determination of thiamphenicol (TAP) residues in honey by using high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) has been developed and validated. The sample was extracted from honey by alkaline ethyl acetate, concentrated by rotary evaporator, purified by C18 SPE (solid phase extraction) cartridge, and detected at a wavelength of 225 nm. The pre-treatment conditions were optimized in order to decrease the matrix interference. The detection limit for TAP was 30 μg·kg-1, less than 50 μg·kg-1 which was provided by Industry Standard of the People's Republic of China SN 0199-93.The average recoveries for TAP were between 71.3% and 90.9%.Coefficients of variation ranged from 2.0% to 3.4%.The method has good repeatability and high sensitivity, and can be applied for the determination of TAP residue in honey.
