In this paper the resistance to Colletotrichum gloeosporioides of 17 oil tea plant cultivars from 8 provinces of south China were investigated in natural forests, and some biological characters of C. gloeosporioides on the 8 main cultivars were studied in laboratory furtherly. The results showed that:(1)Camelliae yansienensis, C.octopetala, C.oleifera.Abel var.Huizhou-Xiaohong,C.oleifera Abel var. Huizhou-dahong, have higher resistance to the Colletotrichum gloeosporides among 17 cultivars;C.oleifera.Abel var. Shucheng-Dahong, C.chekiagoleosa, C.oleifera.Abel var. Luohanguo,C.oleifera Abel var. Ruangzhi have certain resistance; and the remainders were susceptible.(2) there are siginifant differences for the rates of spore germination and the growth of hypha by using juice and peel culture media of 8 cultivars.
