There exist some shortcomings such as complex calculation and poor spatial location with traditional evaluation methods.This paper established and applicated a expert system for evaluating the suitability cultivated land with the aid of geographic information system (GIS) in Pizhou,Jiangsu province.The result showed that this expert system was feasible for both cultivated land and other types of land.
