Abstract:The long-petioled dogwood is a shade-enduring tree, most commonly as an understoryspecies in mixed hardwood forests on rich sandy loams located in hillside and foolhills. Based onthe determination of the physico-mechanical properties of wood,it is shown that its timber isheavy, tough, strong, and difficult to split. This tree is best known for its uses, such as for high-grade furniture, shuttles, bobbins, fine carving and turnery wood, high figured material, productof industrial art, plywood and agricultural tools.
